Rwanda and Mauritius to strengthen diplomatic ties in the Russian Federation
Moscow, 4th September, Ambassador Maheswarsingh Khemloliva of Mauritius in the Russian Federation paid a courtesy call on Amb Mujawamariya.
They exchanged on good existing relationships between Rwanda and Mauritius and explore ways of enhancing cooperation at diplomatic level in their jurisdiction area here in the Russian Federation. Ambassador Khemloliva stated that his country is on the move to focus its cooperation on sister African countries for today Africa is a potential and fast growing economy, a continent that has a bright future.
Mauritius is a country with high reputation in hotel management and customer care services, there is a need to find out how Rwanda could benefit for such experience
Mauritius recently expressed need to explore ways and means to benefit from Rwanda’s advanced initiatives in ICT, especially the successful policy of One Laptop per Child,” reads part of a press release on presentation of credentials by Rwanda High Commissioner to Mauritius.
In 2001, Rwanda and Mauritius signed three crucial pacts on; economic, scientific and technical cooperation; avoidance of double taxation and fiscal evasion; and protection and promotion of investments.Rwanda can learn from the small island’s “experience and assets in tourism, aviation, ICT, skills development, investment promotion, excess in qualified medical doctors, [and] sugar production”.
The two Diplomats appreciated the strong ties between the two countries and committed to exchange information on the opportunities of investment from the Russian Federation and export facilities for the two countries.
