The current chairman of the AU HE Robert Mugabe meeting African countries’ envoys to Russia
The Russian V-Day celebrated on May 09th was attended by different dignitaries including Heads of State from African continent. Among them there was the President of Egypt, the President of South Africa and the President of Zimbabwe and current Chairman of the African Union HE Robert Mugabe. Mugabe was invited to the event in his capacity as the African Union chair.
During the meeting he had with African envoys to Russian Federation, African envoys raised concerns on lack of inter countries trade in Africa and lack of strategies to facilitate that trade; hence all the African fortune goes to outside African market when it was possible to improve the continental trade and exchange of commodities. The envoys were concerned with the lack of implementation of different resolutions taken at the level of the organization in its different meetings and summits. The Chairman of AU promised to make sure that all the decisions taken by the AU shall be implemented and no more “shelves documents” under his presidency; then agreed with the envoys that the issue of inter-countries trade is on the next summit’s agenda and together they will find solutions as it is also a concern of the continent.
